Project Management Contractor
AWI is seeking applications for a Project Management Contractor to play a key role in the development of the Woolmark+ Nature Positive Farming Program. The contractor will provide hands-on project management and program development support to move the program from launch readiness through to rollout and preparation for scale.
Job Title: Project Management Contractor
Department: Woolmark+ Nature Positive Farming Program
Location: Sydney Office (hybrid).
POSITION PURPOSE
Provide hands-on project management and program development support to move the Woolmark+ Nature Positive Farming Program from launch readiness through early rollout and preparation for scale. The contractor will bring structure to a fast-moving, cross-functional program, maintain visibility of progress and dependencies, work alongside internal and external stakeholders, develop the core documents needed to operate the Program, and proactively identify and resolve gaps, risks and governance requirements.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Program coordination and delivery – develop and maintain an integrated workplan across research, data providers, delivery partners, legal, communications and any other relevant stakeholders; run the weekly cadence; track actions, decisions, dependencies and milestones; and provide a clear view of what is on track, at risk or blocked.
- Launch readiness and rollout – coordinate the activities required for launch and early implementation, including readiness checks, issue resolution, partner onboarding, launch sequencing, post-launch review and translation of lessons into the next phase.
- Core program documentation – draft and maintain practical operating documents, including the Program Operating Guidelines/Manual (covering roles and responsibilities, decision rules, process maps, claims and approval pathways, and other materials required to make the Program repeatable and usable), operating agreements and partner requirements, and grower engagement and onboarding pathways.
- Woolgrower, partner and portal pathways – work with the digital team to coordinate the end-to-end woolgrower journey and delivery-partner experience; identify friction or gaps; oversee portal and user-journey requirements from a program perspective; and ensure responsibilities, data handovers and manual interim processes are clear while technology is developed.
- Risk, dependency and issue management – proactively identify operational, commercial, governance, data, claims, reputational and delivery risks; maintain a practical risk and issue register; bring forward decisions at the right time; and work with relevant owners to develop solutions.
- Scale and transition planning – help convert the launch model into a scalable operating model by documenting lessons, standardising processes, identifying automation and resourcing needs, defining onboarding pathways for additional providers and partners, and preparing a clear handover into business-as-usual ownership.
- Stakeholder alignment and reporting – prepare concise status updates and decision papers; facilitate working sessions; follow through on commitments; and ensure senior stakeholders have an accurate view of progress, key decisions and emerging risks.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- Strong project/program management experience in complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives with multiple parallel workstreams and tight delivery timeframes.
- Excellent program-document development skills with demonstrated ability to turn evolving concepts into clear operating guidelines, manuals, agreements, governance documents, process maps and practical implementation materials.
- Strategic and independent problem solving - able to see the whole system, identify missing pieces or unintended consequences, frame decisions and progress solutions with limited supervision.
- Strong stakeholder management and facilitation across technical, commercial, legal, communications and operational stakeholders; able to create alignment without relying on formal authority.
- Clear written and verbal communication with the judgement to distil complexity into concise decisions, actions and fit-for-purpose documents.
- Comfort with ambiguity and pace - highly organised, pragmatic and able to move between strategic questions and detailed execution.
- Experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous: sustainability or environmental programs; agriculture or natural capital; certification/standards; supply-chain or traceability initiatives.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE BY APRIL 2027
- Launch and early rollout are actively coordinated, with clear ownership of all material actions, risks and dependencies.
- Core Program operating and governance documents, including operating agreements with external stakeholders, are developed.
- Grower and partner pathways, data sharing arrangements, approvals and processes are documented.
- Digital portal developed with IT.
- A roadmap developed for post-launch improvements, scale-up, additional partner/provider onboarding and transition to business-as-usual.
