Digital & IT Project Manager
This role works closely with the General Manager Digital & IT and wider Digital & IT team to manage the successful delivery of digital and IT projects across AWI. The role is responsible for planning, coordinating, tracking and reporting project activity using agile methodology, best-practice project management processes and appropriate AI-enabled ways of working.

POSITION PURPOSE
The position will be responsible for overall successful and timely delivery of Digital and IT projects in line with AWI’s business objectives, approved budgets, agreed schedules and the outcomes defined in the project brief.
The role will coordinate work globally across internal staff, business stakeholders, external vendors, agencies and technology partners, ensuring project scope, budget, risk, dependencies, decisions, quality and delivery status are visible and actively managed.
The role will also assist with digital content editing, web publishing and EDM creation where required. These activities are an important support requirement of the role but are not the primary focus of the position.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Manage digital and IT projects, ensuring strategic alignment, timely project delivery, adherence to approved scope and use of best-practice digital project management methods.
- Translate business briefs into clear project scopes, delivery plans, epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, schedules, milestones and measurable outcomes.
- Run agile delivery ceremonies as required, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives and release planning.
- Create, manage and maintain Jira projects, boards, backlogs, tasks, defects, dashboards and reports so that project progress, blockers, decisions and dependencies are visible to stakeholders.
- Use ChatGPT and approved AI tools to assist with project briefs, design concepts, scheduling, user stories, meeting summaries, status reports, RAID logs, stakeholder communications and delivery tracking.
- Critically review AI-generated outputs to ensure they are accurate, secure, appropriate, brand-aligned and suitable for business use before they are shared or relied upon.
- Coordinate internal teams, global offices, external vendors, agencies and technology partners to ensure deliverables are completed within specifications, timelines and budgets.
- Manage project documentation and stakeholder engagement, ensuring all required project documentation is created, stored and maintained and that stakeholders receive clear communication on status, risks and required decisions.
- Track project budgets, vendor deliverables, contract requirements, estimates and expenditure, escalating commercial issues or scope changes when required.
- Identify, maintain and manage project risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies through RAID logs and regular project governance processes.
- Coordinate quality assurance, user acceptance testing, defect triage, release readiness, launch activity, support handover and post-launch issue tracking.
- Ensure delivered outcomes match the original brief, agreed acceptance criteria, user needs, brand requirements, security/privacy expectations and business objectives.
- Support digital content requirements where required, including editing, formatting, uploading and maintaining website content and digital assets across AWI/TWC platforms.
- Assist with the creation, testing and deployment of EDMs and digital communications using approved templates, marketing automation tools and approval workflows.
- Apply working knowledge of HTML, CSS, SEO, analytics, accessibility, tracking and content QA to support website updates, EDMs and digital delivery activities as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of digital project delivery practices, Jira workflows, AI prompt templates, reporting methods, vendor coordination and operational documentation.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Formal Training / Qualification
- Relevant tertiary qualification in digital, IT, business, communications, marketing, project management or equivalent experience.
- Agile, Scrum, product ownership, business analysis or project management certification is desirable.
- Demonstrated interest in AI-enabled productivity, digital delivery, project governance and modern content operations.
Technical Knowledge
- Digital and IT project management processes, agile delivery methodologies and project lifecycle governance.
- Working knowledge of Jira or equivalent project management software, including boards, backlogs, dashboards, reporting and workflow management.
- Practical use of ChatGPT or approved AI tools for brief creation, design ideation, scheduling, reporting, user story development, documentation and project tracking.
- Strong experience in digital delivery practices including sprint planning, QA, UAT, release coordination and post-launch support.
- Working knowledge of CMS and publishing workflows; Optimizely experience is advantageous.
- Knowledge of marketing automation and EDM execution; Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Pardot or similar experience is advantageous.
- Working knowledge of HTML and CSS; familiarity with JavaScript is advantageous.
- Understanding of CRM platform ecosystems, analytics, Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, SEO, accessibility and digital asset management.
- Awareness of privacy, cyber security, responsible AI, data handling and brand governance requirements in digital and IT delivery.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent is advantageous.
Work Experience
- 3+ years experience managing digital, IT, web, CRM, marketing technology or platform delivery projects.
- Experience coordinating internal stakeholders, global teams and external vendors or agencies.
- Experience working in agile delivery environments, including backlog management, sprint planning, QA/UAT and release coordination.
- Experience with CMS, marketing automation, EDMs, analytics, digital campaigns or website operations.
- Experience using AI-enabled productivity tools in a business environment is advantageous.
