Another drop of young leaders completes Breeding Leadership

The latest group of enthusiastic wool industry representatives have completed Australian Wool Innovation’s Breeding Leadership program.

The latest group of enthusiastic wool industry representatives have completed Australian Wool Innovation’s Breeding Leadership program.

AWI CEO, John Roberts, addressed the group and was impressed by the keen interest in all levels of the industry displayed by those present.

“These young people are the future of our industry and are so important. I really enjoyed meeting the Breeding Leadership 2022 cohort and can’t wait to see what they do next.”

After postponing the February program, there was much anticipation to finally attend the ninth round of the Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) leadership program.

The week included sessions on personal leadership, strategic planning, corporate governance as well as skills such as time management and delegation.

All 19 participants thoroughly enjoyed the week.

Bridgitte Brooks, a participant from Yuna, WA, said “Fantastic week. Learning about strategy and policy to make it clear to everyone in the business. The wool industry is in safe hands with this group coming through”.

Jack Kennedy, Dunkeld VIC, “meeting a great group of people who are excited about the wool industry. Put a spark in me to get stuck in!”

Alec Merriman, Boorowa, NSW “I enjoyed the farm visits and seeing how they value-add their businesses. It is really promoting the wool industry but starting from within.”

The group visited two mid north SA Merino properties and undertook a tour to Michell Wool and Anlaby Station. During the industry dinner, AWI CEO Mr John Roberts addressed Breeding Leadership 2022 participants and industry guests.

Funded by AWI and facilitated by Pinion Advisory, Breeding Leadership aims to empower young wool industry participants to step into leadership roles within their community.

Delivered since 2006, Breeding Leadership now has an alumni of over 200 wool industry connections from all areas of the supply chain.

Breeding Leadership is a flagship investment under AWI’s Leadership and Capacity Building program. Breeding Leadership aims to nurture young leaders to enable them to continue the wool industry in the future.
