Leading Sheep Queensland

Leading Sheep is designed to provide current and relevant information to Queensland sheep and wool producers as they make decisions to improve their long-term productivity and profitability.

The program engages sheep and wool producers in three regions across the state - South, South west and North/Central west.  In each region, an extension officer and a regional coordinator work with a regional committee of sheep and wool producers to determine local priorities.

Leading Sheep priorities currently include:

  • Predation.
  • Animal nutrition.
  • Animal Health.
  • Business optimisation.
  • Marketing and selling wool and sheep meat.

Getting involved in Leading Sheep simply involves supplying contact details to the local extension officer or regional coordinator. These contact details allow a two-way flow of information between the regional coordinating committee and the regional network group. The regional network group is made up of all interested sheep and wool producers and service providers in the region.

Leading Sheep is partnership between AWI, the Queensland Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and AgForce.
