A new range of Cool Wool suits, jackets and trousers has been developed by M.J. Bale and The Woolmark Company, a subsidiary of Australian Wool Innovation (AWI).

Launched this summer, M.J. Bale will highlight a large selection of lightweight suits and tuxedos woven with Cool Wool fabric. The worsted wool cloth has been specially woven by a prestigious group of weavers that includes Italy’s Vitale Barberis Canonico and has passed stringent testing to be awarded Cool Wool certification – a sub-brand of the iconic Woolmark brand. The suits feature all the hallmarks of Cool Wool suiting fabrics, including softness, fineness, elasticity, breathability, odour resistance and UV protection.

“It gives us enormous pride to be working again with The Woolmark Company,” says M.J. Bale Founder and CEO Matt Jensen.

“Cool Wool fabric is undisputedly the world’s most versatile and high-quality tailoring cloth available, and it’s a designer’s dream thanks to its softness and handle, not to mention the obvious benefits for the customer.

“We’re very humbled to be able to work alongside The Woolmark Company to promote the fine and hard work of Australian woolgrowers and do our bit to help promote the fibre. As a business owner with a view to quality garments, using Australian Merino wool is an imperative.”

M.J. Bale is a 100 per cent Australian-owned menswear brand operating across 44 stores and concessions nationally and is known for its signature deconstructed wool suits that veer on the classical side of masculine elegance. Founded in 2009 by Matt Jensen, a woolgrower’s son, the company now employs 250 local staff. As a Woolmark licensee M.J. Bale has an ongoing relationship with The Woolmark Company - the world’s foremost authority on Merino wool and a not-for-profit body working for Australian woolgrowers.

AWI CEO and The Woolmark Company Managing Director Stuart McCullough said M.J. Bale had long been an advocate of Australian Merino wool and was a natural fit in promoting the innate versatility of the fibre.

“M.J. Bale has long been a passionate supporter of Australian Merino wool and the brand is one which resonates well with Australian consumers,” said Mr McCullough. “Both The Woolmark Company and M.J. Bale share common values in their commitment to the Australian fibre and driving innovation and new markets.

“Collections such as the latest from M.J. Bale continue to highlight wool as a trans-seasonal fibre and help to extend the selling season of wool.”
