Fifty woolgrowers from all Australian states gathered at an industry forum in Sydney on 17/18 December to offer AWI further direction for the years ahead.
Topics of discussion included the profitability and reliability of growing wool, the fibre’s opportunities in a carbon economy, on-farm R&D priorities, better communication and new marketing initiatives to lift global demand for wool.
The ideas from a cross-section of the next generation of woolgrowers were a particular focus on 17 December. The thoughts and ideas of these next-gen growers were shared with a larger audience of woolgrowers on 18 December where further debate about the future of their organisation took place.
Listen to a summary of the thoughts of some of the young woolgrowers who attended the forum.
