Finishing is very important to ensure that the appearance and shape of the garment is consistent with the requirements at retail and every part of the garment is steam pressed, using more than 10 different machines, with a variety of specially designed accessories. Wool fibres are more easily set/pressed than other fibres and a steaming time of several seconds at 100°C for several seconds is generally recommended to achieve optimum results.
If the trousers require a crease then the most effective option available to the garment maker is the Siroset process. This process features the spray application to the trouser legs of a formulated reducing agent e.g. cysteine, after which it is steam pressed for 60-70 seconds, then dried at room temperature. Creases set with the Siroset process can withstand soaking in water at 70°C for 30 minutes and are therefore described as being permanent.
After finishing, the garments are inspected in accordance with the garment specification, and then delivered to customers.
