For those woolgrowers considering building a new shearing shed, it is worthwhile considering what sort of alternative harvesting technologies are available (or may soon become available).

Some new technologies exist and other potential new technologies may soon be available which may influence your decision making in relation to the layout, or even the necessity, of a new shed.

Find information below about three alternative wool harvesting technologies. Two are currently commercially available:

• Biological wool harvesting (Bioclip®) (PDF 119Kb); and
• Mobile "on the board" shearing trailers (PDF 205Kb).

One other technology is under development:

• Upright Posture Shearing Platforms (UPSP) (PDF 139Kb) - either mobile or fixed modules.
