Australian Wool Innovation Limited (AWI) is investing $835,000 for 2010-11 as part of the Shearer and Wool handler Training Program.

The program aims to:

• Help the wool harvesting industry ensure the availability of competent workers through the delivery of industry relevant training programs and credible skill assessment.
• To attract and retain new entrants.
• To build the capacity of existing workers.
• To increase the profitability of woolgrowers.
• To maximise government funds and leverage these funds to support for shearer / wool handler training.
• Increase the productivity and quality of shearers and wool handlers trained with AWI funds.
