Pregnant ewes

Adult ewes over two years old (pregnant)
If well grown and well-fed, these sheep should have developed their immune systems.

However, the demands of late pregnancy and lactation temporarily weaken their immune systems. They can become more susceptible to worms, and can deposit many worm eggs onto the lambing paddock.

Good nutrition strengthens their immune system. Monitor worm egg counts regularly, especially just before lambing and lamb marking.

Low worm risk lambing paddocks should have been prepared several months beforehand, utilising such strategies as 'smart grazing', cross grazing with cattle and spelling.
