How long have you been in business as a consultant and what region(s) do you service?

Consulting for 10 years principally in the south east of SA, but now extending to the Adelaide Hills, mid north and York Peninsula

What are the 5 key management principles producers should adopt to manage drench resistance and worm management in your area?

  1. Regular worm egg counts are essential to ensure drenching is timely and minimised;
  2. Develop a grazing strategy to limit sheep exposure to worm larvae;
  3. First summer drench with an effective drench;
  4. Don’t give a second summer drench unless unavoidable, and then use alternative drench group;
  5. Maintain balanced nutrition including minerals in your stock to ensure good natural resistance to worms.

What is your favourite quotation and why?

“If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it”

This typifies the approach to modern farming where measurement & monitoring is essential to optimising production and maintaining a profit.

What excites you most about country life and your job?

Enjoy seeing improved production and profit at the “grassroots” level - especially well managed pastures and livestock and the satisfaction this brings to the land manager/owner.
