Once your worksheet is complete or auction lots have been obtained you are then ready to price those lots.
To price your wool:
- Daily - this is based on the last auction sale for that region.
- 1 month - this is a rolling average of the end of week (Thursday) auction market prices from the previous 4 weeks. Using this will smooth out daily market fluctuations.
- 3 months - this is a rolling average of the end of week (Thursday) auction market prices from the previous 12 weeks.
- 12 months - this is a rolling average of the end of month auction market prices from the previous 12 months.
- 3 years - this is the average for the previous three financial years, based on averaged daily market prices.
- 2003/04 and other seasons - this is the average for that season, based on averaged daily market prices.
The priced worksheet looks as follows:
Note that clean prices and clean net kg are calculated based on the Schlumberger yield entered. The gross proceeds for each lot is calculated based on the greasy price and greasy net kg entered.
Clip totals and averages are displayed at the bottom of the spreadsheet. The average calculations are weighted by clean kilograms.
Separate totals and averages are included for:
Note the Fleece average does not contain weaner or lamb fleece lines. To include these you can change the AWEX-ID to MF or Merino Fleece. Also, the total clip figure will not exactly match your account sales as interlots, bulk class wools and all broker charges are not included.
If you would like to exclude specific lots in the pricing without deleting these, then click the include tick box on the left hand side to uncheck that lot. The totals and averages will immediately be recalculated.
Now that your prices have been calculated, a variety of tools are available to further analyse your clip. These include:
Otherwise, you may Save your worksheet for later use, or Create a new worksheet.
Note that prices calculated may not match valuation prices received from your wool broker, or the actual sale price of your lots. More information.
Please note that while Woolcheque will allow you to input a wide range of wool types and test specifications, users should be aware that the accuracy of estimated prices will diminish towards the edges of the allowable ranges. For example, the worksheet will actually allow numeric values in the micron field from 10 through to 40, however there are implications on the accuracy of the prices outside of the 16 to 32 micron range. This is due to the fact that there is a limited amount of wool offered beyond these limits. Users looking for a price guide outside of these ranges are advised to use the 'Similar lots' link on the worksheet to check for any available lots that have recently sold at auction.
In some cases, prices cannot be calculated. These lots will show a zero value in red. Place your mouse over the zero to display the reason why that lot cannot be priced.
