3-D Substance

constructed - architectural - textured - firm - bulky - flexible - sturdy - matt & shiny

Three-dimensionality is one of the principal features this season affecting both surface and volume on various scales from understated micro-textures to blown-up volume.

Textured weaves are directional with herringbone as the most important next to utilitarian gabardine, cavalry twill or corduroy.

Supple solidity and lightweight denseness often obtained with the intervention of elastic fibres, allow for constructed firm handles and silhouettes with ease of movement.

Seemingly plain surfaces are in fact extremely structured with minute matt-and-shine patterns obtained by varying yarn tensions, intricate weave designs and microscopic colour effects.

Interaction between nature and technology is key this season: fabrics sport highly performing qualities obtained through techniques that enhance natural fibres’ features as well as the knowing use of artificial fibres.

More decorative blistered effects are key for fabrics with enhanced volume and movement through various pleating, embossing and creasing techniques and the use of metallic shine filaments adding extra depth.

Thickness and layering are emphasized in a multitude of honeycomb structures, double-sided fabrics and burn-out pile effects.

For novelties this direction results in graphic geometric designs, lace structures, distorted digital prints and optical or psychedelic patterns with a great sense of depth.

An urban palette with a strong presence of cool greys and blues from light through to darkest shades next to graphic black and white is interspersed with bold colour accents.
