Original tradition

Following the demand for authenticity, attentiveness to cultural heritage is an important feature of many collections that draw inspiration from classic wardrobe elements bringing forth an interaction between classic style and contemporary taste.

Especially high-end weavers have revisited fabric designs from their in-house archives in modern versions that respond to contemporary quality and performance demands.

Traditional fabrics of British heritage like Prince of Wales checks and Tartans, rejuvenated in texture and colour with modernized luxury handles or softly blurred designs, overprints and fancy yarn inclusions are key this season.

Checks are the most influential pattern all over the various fabric sectors this season, from suiting and outerwear through to sportswear and novelty fabrics.

Stripes this season are blurred and shaded with larger stripes in tonal or matt and shine effects and pinstripes barely setting off from backgrounds.

Updated folk-inspired designs are important for decorative jacquard fabrics and jerseys reviving traditional Paisley, Fair Isle and Argyle patterns.

Elegant classic greys, blues and browns of low to medium intensity dominate the colour scheme, interacting with deeper regimental stripe tones of purple, red and green.
