In a marketplace where every other sport fabric claims to excel at minimising moisture build-up and maximising comfort, one fabric really does out-perform the rest.  Through its unique temperature regulation and vapour management properties AWI’s Merino Perform™ Advantage fabrics keep athletes cooler and drier when exercising. 

• Bi-component fabric structure

Merino Perform™ Advantage fabrics combine the unique high-performance structure of the Merino fibre with synthetics.  Through blending, the complementary performance benefits of the fibres can be combined creating modern, lightweight fabrics.  These fabrics have significantly enhanced wicking of liquid moisture, enhanced cooling for high activity sports and higher tensile strength for contact sports.

• Vapour moisture management

Merino Perform™ Advantage fabric’s unique vapour extraction system means that you stay cooler and drier during extreme exercise.  Merino can absorb and transfer a large proportion of water vapour, providing a highly efficient perspiration dispersal mechanism. 

• Liquid moisture management (wicking)

Wicking describes the movement of liquid moisture (sweat) within a fabric by capillary action.  Merino in its natural state is relatively hydrophobic (repels water) which means that liquid sweat does not remain on the inner layer of the garment.  The liquid is instead wicked away to the outer synthetic layer where it is released.  This means that even after heaving sweating the garment inside will still be relatively dry.

• Advanced cooling process

Merino Perform™ Advantage fabrics absorb moisture vapour and simultaneously desorb vapour to the environment. This is important because perspiration comes in two forms, liquid and vapour. Most performance fabrics wick the moisture liquid away but do not manage moisture vapour.  Merino Perform™ Advantage fabrics manage both vapour and liquid moisture.  This results in an altogether more advanced cooling and drying process.
