Hong Kong is the fashion centre of the Asian region, and its world-class textile education facilities attract key personnel from around the region. A series of fashion shows, attended by AWI over the past two months, showcased Hong Kong’s knitwear design talent.

Organised by the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI), this inaugural event showcased the latest knitwear and accessory collections of the HKDI’s final year students.
The show featured 16 knitwear collections of approximately 48 outfits and 17 accessory sets of shoes, bags and hats. The interactive show was chic, lively and fun with a DJ mixing music at the show.
The event not only showcased new creative talents, it also has helped establish a meaningful collaboration between graduates, industry leaders and employers.

The creative flair and design talent of the graduating students from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU)'s Institute of Textiles and Clothing (ITC) won big rounds of applause from the industry at their Knitwear Fashion Show.
A collaborated effort of design students, ITC, various knitwear producers and yarn suppliers, the annual Knitwear Fashion Show aims to foster the relations between the Institute and the industry, as well as showcasing the quality design and products of the PolyU students.
In designing their own collection of four outfits, 20 graduating students majoring in knitwear design were provided with raw materials sponsored by knitwear producers and yarn suppliers.

Twenty-four graduating students from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU)'s Institute of Textiles and Clothing (ITC) displayed their design flair and talent at their annual graduation fashion show. The graduates were either from the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Scheme in Fashion and Textiles or the Higher Diploma Scheme in Fashion and Textile Studies.
The panel of judges was made up of well-known fashion designers and seasoned practitioners of the fashion industry. Presenting their original collection of six outfits at the gala show, the students also competed for prizes including:
• The Woolmark Platinum Award, sponsored by Australian Wool Innovation, won by Tina Wong.
• Flinders Merino & AWI Platinum Award, sponsored by Flinders Merino, won by Bel Tse.
The selected collections had to contain at least 60 per cent wool. The winners have won training in Australia organised by AWI.
Australian woolgrowers Brian Rowe, and John and June Parnell attended the event on behalf of Flinders Merino.

This competition organised by the Clothing Industry Training Authority (CITA) received over 300 industrial, professional and student entries from Hong Kong and the mainland China.
Hong Kong Design Institute students swept all six awards.

The Hong Kong Design Institute held its 2010 Graduation Fashion Show on 25 June.
Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) is a newly launched institute that brings together the strengths of 5 departments from Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE), which offer design programs spanning visual communication, product, interior, fashion and textiles, image, digital media, animation and film/TV.
