Australian Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology (AIAST) National Conference

‘The future for agricultural research, development and extension (RD&E) in Australia’

What is the future of Agricultural RD&E in Australia? As R&D is a major source of intellectual and technical feedstock for the future, any drop in funding impacts on all areas of the profession and the industry as a whole. Do we have the capacity to meet the challenges of food production, biosecurity, management of natural resources, and for agribusiness, our farmers and their communities to respond to falling profit margins and coping with seasonal variation and climate change policies?

The AIAST Conference provides a forum for stakeholders to establish a common, fact-based understanding of these issues and to workshop actions which our profession can take proactively. The two-day event will consist of invited presentations (day 1) and an interactive workshop (day 2). Scientists, administrators and industry leaders with an interest in the rural sector are invited to be part of the two-day conference workshop designed to shape the future of rural RD&E. It is open to anyone interested in the future of rural RD&E in Australia.
